Tempest
Webley air pistols have proven themselves time and again through the decades since Webley & Scott, Ltd, obtained the
basic patent covering their unique features
in 1911. To replace the compact version of
the premier in the American market,
Webley & Scott introduced the Hurricane
and then the Tempest.
The Tempest is essentially a shortened
Hurricane, while retaining full power. The
classic design with the barrel placed over
the piston chamber allows the power of a
long piston chamber and mainspring - all
in a compact 8.9" overall. To make the
airgun as light as possible without sacrificing
any strength or durability, the frame is
made out of high tensile aircraft aluminum
alloy, and finished externally with an almost indestructible, baked
on, black epoxy finish.
To cock and load
the air pistol, just
release the thumb
latch at the rear,
and swing the barrel up and forward. The
pellet is inserted directly into the bore and
then the barrel is swung back into place. A
manual safety is convenient to the right
thumb. The Tempest rear sight is
adjustable by screw-tension sliders for
both windage and elevation. Open front
sight for quick action and holster use. The
grips have a comfortable thumb shelf for
the right-handed shooter. For the lefthanded shooters, and those preferring the
good looks and comfort of wooden grips,
Hurricane
we highly recommend adding the optional
combat grips.
As noted in our Tempest description, the
Hurricane has evolved from one of the
most dependable lines of air pistols. The
Hurricane has a frame extended to the rear
to accommodate a hand adjustable
micrometer sight and hooded front sight.
For those preferring the accuracy of a
scope, the rear sight of the Hurricane can
be removed and the enclosed scope
mount installed in its place (use only 3/4"
tube 1.5 x 15 scope). The Tempest and
Hurricane are available in .177 caliber.
If you want power and fun in a handful,
the Tempest and/or Hurricane are compact
and rugged and reasonably accurate air
pistols of choice. Download the STATISTICS pdf here
