Long known as the "elegant workhorse", the R1 heritage stretches over 30 years. Into the twenty-first century the R1 is still state of the art in spring piston air rifles. Every feature of the R1 was designed for maximum quality and peformance. The R1 was the first precision air rifle to be developed as a result of computer simulated studies. In .177 caliber, the R1 was the first production airgun to break the 1000 fps "barrier", although Beeman prefers to be conser- vative and say that it usually fires between 950 and 1000 fps with Beeman's higher velocity pellets.

The bore of the R1 compression chamber is an awesome 30mm. The receiver assembly is the strongest and most posi- tive unit available, with an end cap that has been machined from a solid block of steel and carefully designed so that when it screws onto the back of the air rifle it mates flush with the body tube. The solid body tube has deep dovetail grooves machined into the sides for maximum accuracy and stability when using a scope.

The Beeman "R" Series trigger is universally recognized as the finest available on a production sporting air rifle. The trig- ger has a crisp delightful feel that is truly adjustable, and gives optimum control of the accuracy produced by the precision rifled 12-groove barrel, 6-groove in 22 cal. The safety automatically engages each time the air rifle is cocked. It has a convenient push-button thumb release with a red indicator shows that the air rifle is ready to fire. The elegant hardwood Monte Carlo style stock is available in either right or left handed, and is the most handsome and functional stock on a production air rifle. The long forearm adds grace and balance and allows a more extended grasp for faster and easier field shooting. The R1 is available in 177, .20 and .22 calibers and has the option of being converted to a gas spring air rifle. For those of you who prefer a shorter barrel, all three calibers are also available in a carbine version.
