The P1 is a result of American and
German co-operation, simply one of the
finest, most innovative and exciting air
pistols in decades. One of the P1's most
exciting features is the dual power feature.
At only 11 inches in length, the small size
of the air pistol is remarkable considering
the velocity.
To achieve the dual power there are two
cocking positions. [n the .177 caliber, low
power is about 480 fps and high power is
about 600 fps. The .20 caliber has a low
power of about 420 fps and high power of
about 500 fps. The lower power setting is
safer for shooting in an indoor range,
while the higher power setting is much
appreciated on field and long-range targets.
Either cocking point is reached in a single
stroke. The full-power stroke requires a
total of just 18 Ibs of cocking effort. To
cock the P1, the shooter pulls the "hammer"
back to release the cocking arm. The air
pistol has a top cocking arm that moves forward; the low power setting is
reached when the cocking arm is
at a right angle to the frame. Pull
the cocking arm as far as it will go, and it
will attain the high power setting.
To make this powerful air pistol accurate,
we started with a precision 12-groove
rifled barrel. Placed in the cocking arm,
the barrel, both sights and the scope
grooves are locked together in a single
unit. The P1 design also exposes the
breech end of the barrel when the cocking
arm is up, allowing direct and precise
loading, and the deep muzzle recess to
protect the critical crown area. The P1 has
an ambidextrous manual trigger lock
"safety".
The P1 spring piston power plant, barrel
and all other critical parts are made of the
finest gun steel. The frame is anodized,
high tensile, aircraft aluminum with a
black, semi-matte finish. The two-stage
trigger is adjustable from the 28 oz. manufacturer setting. The
wide trigger blade has a
grooved surface that makes
the trigger pull feel extra light and gives a
smooth, controlled feel to the air pistol,
so necessary for controlled let off.
A fixed front post sight and square notch
firearm grade rear sight with micrometer
windage and elevation adjustments is
standard on the P1. For extra precision
and ease of shooting, a scope can be
mounted on the 11 mm scope grooves that
are built into the receiver.
The ambidextrous grips are select grade
walnut with genuine hand-cut checkering.
The pistol grip and trigger areas are sized
to fit just about any Colt 1911A .45 Auto
grips available today; this makes it easy for
shooters to maintain the feel of their
firearm while training inexpensively with
the P1. Shooters can be confident that
this air pistol will present a reliable measure
of their marksmanship skills while training.
