| Internationally recognized for its
outstanding field accuracy, the IIW77
carbine, originally produced in 1982, is
still considered the most successful fixed
barrel underlever spring-piston sporting
air rifle made. Many factors contribute to
the fine accuracy of the 1 IW77. Foremost
are its precision barrel with 12 rifling
grooves in the .177 caliber, and the
superb firing control allowed by its two-
stage, Beeman "R" series trigger. The
fine ordinance steel action, barrel and
cocking lever are hand polished and
blued to a standard that exceeds most air
rifles produced. The walnut stained
beech sporter stock has a soft rubber butt
plate, and features a long, tapered forend,
with checkering on the pistol grip. The
I IW77 comes with an all-metal click rear
sight, micrometer adjustable for windage
and elevation and a post front sight.
In 1994, the HW77 was given a sibling.
The new version, dubbed the HW97, was
designed for the shooter who would only
use a scope on his air rifle. The sights were
removed and were replaced with a muzzle
brake on the front and the receiver was
grooved to accept 11 mm mounts. The
stock was modified with a Monte Carlo
cheekpiece that is higher than normal.
Besides enhancing the air rifle's looks, the
high comb also keeps your eye aligned
perfectly with the cross-hairs of the scope.
Continually improving on this model, in 1998, Weihrauch gave the IIW77 /
IIW97 a power upgrade. This model
series now has the performance
approaching that of the RI, and it does
this with little increase in cocking effort
or felt recoil. Should you have an older
HW77 / HW97 the Beeman gunsmiths
can install an upgrade kit that will
increase your power level to that of the
current production models. |
